The educational-methodological functionality includes the capabilities and services of digital learning platforms that support the efficiency and effectiveness of the educational process. Educational methodological functionality plays a significant role in all stages of the educational process, from the preparation of the curriculum to the assessment of learners, and in supporting interaction and communication. Online course platforms and LMSs have different educational philosophies and functionalities, thus providing different levels of instructional methodological functionality. Modular design, interactive learning tasks, personalisation, learner assessment and communication options are all elements that can make online learning more effective and improve learner performance. Instructional methodological functionality is the set of features of online learning platforms and LMSs that support the educational process and personalised learning for learners. This includes, for example, the creation and management of courses and modules, interactive learning activities and assessment facilities, monitoring and analysis of learner progress, and personalised feedback and support for learners. The teaching methodology functionality is designed to increase the efficiency of the online learning process and to provide the best learning experience for instructors and learners. To this end, educational platforms and LMSs use a variety of educational tools and technologies, such as multimedia content, interactive videos, adaptive learning technologies, gamification and simulations. Instructional methodological functionality is particularly important in online education, where learners are usually not present in a physical classroom and instructors and learners are distanced from each other. Instructional-methodological functionality allows instructors to use more personalised teaching methods and learners to follow courses more closely, contributing to the efficiency and effectiveness of online education.
