First, I examined the proportion of cohesive ties transferred from the SL texts to the consecutively interpreted TTs. In the case of referential ties, there is a relatively high proportion of ties kept from the SL, ranging from 33.3% to 76.2%. However, no consistent pattern can be found in reference shifts (see Table 11.2).

 

 

The proportion of elliptical structures transferred from the ST shows a different pattern (Table 11.3). For most students and for most cases, elliptical structures are not transferred from the ST; they are either replaced with lexical cohesion or the segments containing ellipsis are left out altogether from the ST.

 

 

In the case of conjunctions, no consistent pattern can be observed (Table 11.4).
