Even though there is a wealth of literature on explicitation in translation, results related to explicitation in interpreting remain limited. Part of the reason is that for many decades it has been thought that because of the constraints of interpreting (see Gumul’s model is section 1.5.4), there is no room for explicitation in interpreting. However, recently there has been a growing interest paid to the topic.
