Chapter one defines interpreting and describes different types of interpreting, together with possible typologies of interpreting. Following this, models of interpreting relevant for the investigation presented in this volume are detailed, namely the Interpretive Theory of the Paris School, Gile’s Effort Models, Seeber’s Model of Cognitive Load, Setton’s Cognitive-Pragmatic Model, and Gumul’s Model of Interpreting Constraints.
