In the following sections, the rationale behind this book is discussed. First, the present state of global citizenship education in the Hungarian secondary school context is explained (2.3.1), followed by an overview of the state of global citizenship education (GCED) in teacher education (2.3.2). Some implications are outlined and finally, at the end of the section, the research niche is established (2.3.3).
