Data Source 5 was conducted at an international EMI school in Budapest that follows the British National Curriculum. The participating students, aged between 12 and 14, were drawn from Year Groups 7, 8, and 9, which fall into Key Stage 3 (referred to at the school as middle primary classes). Eleven students took part in the study, all of whom I had taught for three years. Non-probability purposive sampling was used to select the participants (Dörnyei, 2007), primarily based on my existing relationship with both the students and their parents. The students came from a wide range of cultural backgrounds, including Asia, America, Europe, and the Middle East. The time they had spent in international school settings varied significantly, from one to eleven years. Gender was not considered relevant and was therefore not recorded. To ensure confidentiality, pseudonyms were used during the analysis.
